Are limiting beliefs blocking your magic?
The summer my daughter turned nine, we were playing together in the park. She’d grown bored with sitting on the grass with me. So she announced she was off to find herself a four-leaf clover.
I said okaaaay, and gave her a wink.
I didn't share what I was thinking.
👉 How I’d been looking for four-leaf clovers for 40-some years.
👉 How I’d never, EVER, found one.
👉 So, like, good luck with that, kiddo!
10 minutes later, she skipped back with this in hand.
The little stinker had found the thing I’d tried to find so many times in my life.
A freaking four-leaf clover.
Now, anyone who has ever met my daughter knows there’s a little magic in her.
And in this moment, I realized, my role as her mother is to do my best to not let that magic dim.
One way I can do that is to continue to be aware of the beliefs that I hold.
And to continue to be aware of the ways I share those beliefs with the people around me.
As Roald Dahl said:
And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.
I’m grateful for a child who reminds me:
Magic is real.
And I believe in magic. 🍀
